Hitting back? Eminem denied the controversy this week but today shared a video for his 2020 song ‘Tone Deaf’, apparently using the opportunity to criticize the ‘put it off’ campaign.

He shared a clip from the track on his Twitter, where he seems to be directly addressing the scandal with words he read: ‘I can’t say a word you say, I’m deaf. I think like this I prefer to stay, I am deaf.

‘I don’t stop even when my hair turns gray, I’m deaf. ‘Why don’t they stop until they kill me.’

After the TikTok campaign, many took to social media to defend the so-called ‘liricist’ rapper.

The video for Love The Way You Lie, directed by Joseph Kahn, sees Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan play a couple going through abuse.

At the time the song was released back in 2010, Terry O’Neill, president of the National Women’s Association, said Rihanna was unknowingly highlighting domestic violence.

‘She’s telling the story, and she’s not judging it,’ O’Neill said. ‘And so she may not intend to glorify him, but she is.’

Marjorie Gilberg, the group’s executive director against the violence of Break the Cycle, agreed.

‘The danger is that pop culture defines our social norms,’ she told the AP.

‘We don’t want the message of this song to be that this kind of relationship is appropriate.

So this song needs to be viewed in the context of real information from adults, such as parents and teachers. ‘
