Edge browser to match Chrome’s four-week release cycle

Google had just announced earlier this month that they were working on speeding up the release cycle of Chrome updates to four weeks, up from the current six – week period. This decision was taken keeping an eye on improving the security, speed and stability of the browser.

Now, Microsoft has decided to do the same and is going to change the Microsoft Edge browser release cycle to be identical to Google Chrome.

“As contributors to the Chromium project, we look forward to the news of a 4-week solution cycle announced by Google to help deliver that innovation to our customers. faster, ”Microsoft said in a blog post on Friday.

This updated release cycle will go live with Edge 94 which is expected to launch before September. Google has also promised to make the switch with Chrome in Q3 and move to Chrome 94, but unlike Microsoft, Google has not given a specific month for this move to happen.

Like Google, Microsoft is also going to offer campaign customers the option to opt for longer tours under the Stable Extended list. Below this, there is new news every eight weeks. However, campaigns need to opt for the extended stable schedule as the four – week end is going to be normal, Microsoft has said.

Also, Edge isn’t the only Chromium-based browser moving to a four-week release cycle. Brave plans to match this new record as well.
