Ebola virus infection (EVD) revolution – CDC Africa

Revolution Update: Since the last minute (23 February 2021), 11 new cases have been confirmed, one new death, and two new treatments for Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Nzérékoré, Guinea and North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo ( DR Congo). This represents a 47% increase in the total number of cases reported this week compared to the last summary. Surprisingly, 28 cases of EVD were reported, 11 deaths (CFR: 39%), and two treatments from DR Congo (11 cases; 4 deaths; 2 recoveries) and Guinea (17; 6; 2 ). Seven health care workers are among the cases diagnosed: DR Congo (2) and Guinea (5).
• DR Congo Updates: From the last summary, one new health area (Butembo) reports on three issues; In addition, two new treatments were reported this week. Surprisingly, 11 cases were confirmed with four deaths (CFR: 36%) in four health zones: Biena (5; 3), Butembo (3; 0), Katwa (2; 1) and Musienene (1; 0).
Guinea Update: Since the last summary, eight new confirmed cases, one new death and two new treatments have been reported in Nzérékoré. Surprisingly, 17 cases (13 confirmed and 4 apparently) with seven deaths and two treatments were reported in the Nzérékoré regions (12 cases; 7 deaths; 1 recovery) and the Conakry regions (1; 0; 1 ) .1
• Cross-border updates: Between 15 – 28 February 2021, Sierra Leone investigated 13 EVD-related warnings. All subjects underwent a negative test for EVD with a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. As of today, no confirmed case has been reported from Sierra Leone.
