Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins apologized Tuesday for breaking the COVID-19 protocol reported after the team’s loss on Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks.
Photos surfaced on social media this week showing Haskins apparently partying in a strip club without wearing a mask.
“I want to apologize publicly (sic) for what I did last Sunday. I spoke to Coach (Ron) Rivera yesterday and took full responsibility for endangering the team. -careful and unusual for me and I take responsibility for my action., “Haskins posted on Twitter.

“I also want to apologize for creating anxiety for my team during our playoff push. I will learn and grow from this and do what is best for the team moving forward.”
NFL Network reportedly team officials are handling the case internally following talks with the league on Monday.
Under the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol, it is possible to go to a nightclub without wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) with a maximum fine of one week’s salary or up to a four-game ban.
Haskins was reportedly fined nearly $ 5,000 by the team in October for violating a previous protocol for booking a place for a family friend at the team’s hotel.

Haskins – the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft – made his first start from Week Four on Sunday to replace the injured Alex Smith. He finished 38 of 55 passes for 295 yards, one touchdown, and two catches in a 20-15 home loss to Seattle.
Washington (6-8) is currently holding a one-game lead in the NFC East over the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys heading into their Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday.
Alex Smith could return from a calf injury to begin with. Taylor Heinicke was a Haskins backup against Seattle.
Lions close facility after two advanced Covid-19 tests
The Detroit Lions have announced that they have closed their facility after two COVID-19 positive test results.
“Earlier in the morning, we were told about two positive COVID-19 tests within our group,” the team released in a statement.
“As a warning, the team’s practice facility is currently closed and our players and coaches are holding remote meetings today.
“As we adhere to our Strict Protocols and conduct contact detection, we will continue to liaise closely with the NFL and its medical staff and gather more information.”
