After battling two of the best boxers in the sport in Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier has accepted who is the best.
Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC), who defeated Holloway twice and split his two looks against McGregor, has spent a lot of time with both men.
After TKO suffered his first round for McGregor in 2014, “The Diamond” avenged his revenge in January in a major UFC 257 event when he became the first to miss McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC).
Poirier also holds two wins over Holloway. He signed in 2012, then made a unanimous decision more than seven years later when he was able to spoil several times on the way to a UFC interim light title.
But UFC Holloway (22-6 MMA, 18-6 UFC) featherweight champion revealed that he is still at the top of his game when he put on an impressive senior over Calvin Kattar in his latest UFC tour on ABC 1 in January.
And building his reputation as one of MMA’s best boxers, Poirier Holloway chose McGregor as the best boxer. He explained why.
“Conor is definitely the best puncher,” Poirier told AN TÓRR with Teddy Atlas. “Max seems to be putting things together and in a position to throw a better mix. I think Max Holloway. ”
The Atlas boxing trainer agreed with Poirier and described Holloway’s boxing style as more rounded than McGregor’s style.
“To Dustin’s point in building Holloway, I think in his mind, just like me, he’s seen that the lad has more of the whole package – the consistency of all the elements that make him a great boxer , ”Said Atlas.
