Donald Trump’s farewell speech: in full

TRUMP DONALD: Thank you, thank you very much. Thank you, and we love you and I can tell you that from the bottom of my heart.

This has been an amazing four years, we have achieved so much together. I want to thank all my family and my friends and staff and so many others for being here. I want to thank you for your effort, your hard work. People don’t know how hard this family worked, and they worked for you. They could have a much easier life. But they are just – they did an admirable job. I just want to thank you all – all of them. I want to thank Mark Meadows who is here somewhere, there, I want to thank Mark. But it has been something very special.

We have achieved a lot. Our first woman has become a woman with true grace and beauty and honor. And as popular with the people, as popular with the people. Of course, honey, would you like to say a few words, please?

TRUMP MELANIA: Being a first woman was my greatest honor. Thank you for your love and support. You become my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all, God bless the family and God bless this beautiful country. Thank you.

TRUMP DONALD: What else needs to be said, right? But what we have done – real work, honey, good work iit – what we have done has been amazing by any scale. We rebuilt the United States military. We created a new force called Space Force – that in itself would be a great achievement for regular administration. We were not consistent management. We noticed the vets, a 91 percent approval rate, they had never been before. The vets gave us – the VA – the vets have given us a level of approval like never before. We took care of our vets, and our lovely vets, they were mistreated before we came in. And, as you know, we get a good service for them and we pick up the bill and they could go out to see a doctor if they have to wait a long time. We got it so that we can, sadly, get rid of people who are not treating our vets properly. We didn’t have any of those rights before when I came forward. So our vets are happy, our people are happy, our weapons are very happy.

We also received tax cuts, the largest tax cut and reform in the history of our country, for the most part. I hope they don’t raise your taxes. But, if they do, I told you that.

And if you look at the rules, which I think the regulatory cuts are even more important, which is why we are so good and we had such good job numbers. The numbers of jobs have been absolutely incredible. When we started, if we had not been hit by the pandemic, we would have numbers that have never been seen – already, our numbers are the best ever. If you look at what happened to February a year ago. Our numbers were at an unprecedented level. And even now, we actually built twice. We were beaten, no one blames us, the whole world was beaten and then we picked it up again. And now the stock market is much higher than it was at its peak before the pandemic. So it really is, you can say we picked it up twice.

You’re going to see amazing numbers start coming in if all sorts of types are left alone. Be careful, very complicated, be careful. But you’re going to see some amazing things happen and remember when you see those things happen, if you will. Remember us because I’m looking at elements of our economy that are going to be rockets up – it’s a rocket up.

We have the largest country in the world, we have the largest economy in the world. And as bad as the pandemic was, we were hit so hard, just as the whole world was hit so hard, places that thought they had gotten away with it, that they got away with it – they’re suffering right now. We did something that is actually seen as a medical miracle, they call it a miracle, and that was the vaccine. We got the vaccine developed in nine months instead of nine years or five years or 10 years or a long time. It was supposed to take a long, many, many years to develop a vaccine. Two of us are out, another of us is coming almost immediately. And it really is a great achievement. So you should start seeing really good numbers over the next few months. I think you see those numbers pretty much skyrocket down.

I can only say this: we have done a great job. We’ve left everything – as the athletes would say – ‘We’ve left the field.’ Needless to say – I would never say in a month when we are sitting in Florida, we will not look at each other and say, ‘You know if we only worked a little but more difficult. ‘You can’t work harder. And we had a lot of obstacles, and we went through all the obstacles. And we got just 75 million votes and that is a record in the history of presidential presidents. It’s a full-time record by many – with many millions in the history of a presidential president, it has, in fact, been just an honor.

One of the things we are very proud of is the election of nearly 300 federal judges and three chief judges in the Supreme Court. That’s a very large number, which is a maximum position number. And so, we’ve done a lot, and there are still things to do.

The first thing we need to do is to show our respect and love for the wonderful people and families who have suffered so severely from the Chinese virus. It is a horrible thing that has been inflicted on the world. We all know where it came from, but it’s a horrible, horrible thing. So be very careful, be very, very careful. However, we want to pay great, deep love to all the victims – including families who have suffered so much.

So with that I just want to say that you are an amazing people, this is a really good country. It is my greatest honor and privilege to be your president.

I will always fight for you. I watch, I listen and I tell you that the future of this country has never been better. I wish good luck and great success to the new administration. I think they will have great success. They have a foundation to do something amazing. And again, we put it in a position like it never was before despite the worst plague that struck it, I believe you would say 1917, more than 100 years ago. And yet – despite that, the things that we did are just amazing. And I wouldn’t have done it without you.

So just a blessing, we love you, we will be back in some form.

And again, I just want to, leave, thanks to Vice President Mike Pence and Karen. I want to thank Congress because we worked well with Congress – at least some elements of Congress. But we really did, we have done so much that no one thought would be possible – but I want to thank Congress. And I want to thank the great people in Washington, DC, all the people with whom we worked to put this miracle together.

So, having a good life, we’ll see you soon. Thank you, thank you very much.
