Does Epic Games get on board with collaborations

Fortnite in 2021 is very different from Fortnite in 2017, and that may be because it is affiliated with many other brands.

Fortnite would have a story separate from collaborations. Collaboration used to be a fun way for players to see their favorite characters in Fortnite. The first major collaboration was when Thanos was introduced to Chapter 1 Season 4. Thanos was a nod to the Avengers movies and Fortnite acquired Limited Time Mode where players had to find all six Infinity stones.

There was little addition in the rest of Chapter 1 that did not affect the whole story. Marshmello held a festival and characters like Ant-Man, Batman, and John Wick came into the game as skins. Epic Games just made players happy by adding pop culture references to its game.

Chapter 1 Season X was the last time the collaborations didn’t affect the Fortnite story. The importance of collaborations grew in Fortnite Chapter 2. Overall, the story remained about the missions of Midas, his daughter Jules, and Agent Jonesy.

Slowly, as the seasons progressed, Fortnite added more pop culture references to its roster, as did Aquaman. The greatest collaboration of Chapter 2 came in Q4.

In Season 4, Marvel was incorporated into Fortnite and completely changed the game. The map, the skins, and most of the stuff, were all Marvel related. The Season 4 story revolved around Marvel characters and their fight against Galactus. Fortnite’s original story was put on hold for an entire season.

Season 5 brought Star Wars and hunters from movies and video games. Hunters became part of the Jonesy story, which means that collabs are now a key part of the original Fortnite story. Even Fox Clan skin looked more like an advertisement to the Crew than anything else.

This whole co-op business model has disappointed many players, but it can be said to have brought more profit into the game itself. Epic Games doesn’t seem to mind, as the company has grown with each passing season.

Fortnite may be too commercial to change

At present, Epic Games is worth at least $ 17 billion. They have grown so large that they have had to buy a full shopping center to maintain their new headquarters. This growth has a lot to offer with Fortnite.

Epic Games draws a lot of money from collaborations. Each collaboration gives players a new purpose to purchase battle passes, skins, and crew membership. Companies don’t like to show less profit, and by cutting back on collaborations they will pull back the profit. This shows that Fortnite will soon not be changing its new business model.
