A breathtaking moment was captured by the camera lens, in which a skier chased by a bear can be seen at the ski resort in Predeal in Romania last Saturday. The documentation shows the young surfer fleeing from the bear on his skis on the snowy slope, when the passengers on the cable car above him noticed the frightening situation and shouted at him to warn him. In the background of the video, which was uploaded to social media and immediately went viral, you can hear one of the passengers shout: “Watch out, a bear is chasing you! Faster! No matter what, do not look back.” Throughout all those frightening moments, the man tried to maintain balance and composure, so that he could escape from the bear, while those around him continued to whistle and shout in an attempt to run away from the bear.
According to the report on the news site Digi24, the surfer managed to evade the determined bear at the end when he threw his backpack and managed to distract the bear long enough until he reached a safe place. The surf slope was reportedly closed for surfing at the time following the corona plague, so the bear felt safe to roam freely inside the surfing site.
A spokesman for the district oversight said in an interview that the man “did the right thing” by employing the bear with his backpack. In addition, he noted that the incident could have been fatal and even issued two warning messages in the area to warn the tourists and residents of the nearby resort. It is also known that about 6,000 brown bears live in Romania, after a bear hunter became legal in the country.
