Dillian Whyte knocks out Alexander Povetkin in the fourth round of heavyweight replay | Boxing news

Dillian Whyte went smoothly with Alexander Povetkin with a big left hook after an inspiring display to get a replay in their next round in Gibraltar on Saturday night.

Whyte’s Povetkin was on the verge of striking throughout their second overweight battle and closed the show drastically, returning the favor after his loss to Russia last year.

A fight that wreaked havoc and fair control from Whyte has been put back close in front of the controversy queue in the region where Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are to decide the champion without a doubt.

Whyte’s world title dreams would have been in tatters if he lost again, after seeing his status as a mandatory WBC opponent after a 1,000-day wait when he was previously knocked down by Povetkin.

But he delivered the best career result with punctuation with a brutal decision after leaving a hook trademark.

Whyte had injured Povetkin and collapsed around within the first minute, an interesting start where both depressors stood within the danger zone and flung punches were designed to end. put on the fight immediately.

Povetkin’s blood was unstable by the time Whyte grabbed him with another right hand, still inside the opening round.

Whyte did not notice Povetkin’s attempt to rub into gloves before the second round with a ramte home with a right hand that left a mark of slam.

Just as important to Whyte as his right attack was his defensive ability to avoid Povetkin’s left hook.

“Keep the injection going,” Whyte was told by his new co-coach Harold ‘The Shadow’ Knight, who was hired for his experience in winning transplants after his career with Lennox Lewis.

Whyte then put a brutal hand over in the third round.

Whyte showed another sore right hand in the quarter that had Povetkin non-stop but, after learning from their first fight last year, he was wary of what followed.

But Povetkin’s effort was finally broken 30 seconds from the end of the quarter, when Whyte hit it with a left hook.

The Russian, who had previously just lost to Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko in 39 fights, went down and the referee postponed the fight.

WBC Whyte’s interim belt makes him a true contender once again

Whyte immediately found a stool for his competitor to sit on, and when the brave Povetkin grabbed his leg, they entered.

The WBC interim overweight title was taken home by Whyte, who had entered the ring in praise of Marvin Hagler’s boxing legend.

He referenced the third fight with Povetkin, who is now 41, after that while the world titles will be tied for Joshua and Fury.

Deontay Wilder was once again recommended as his next opponent by promoter Eddie Hearn.
