In an interview published last October in Elle magazine, in the midst of the presidential campaign in which he ran alongside Democrat Joe Biden, she said her parents were very active in the fight for black rights in the US in the 1960s and she remembers accompanying them In marches and demonstrations as a toddler.

Harris said in an interview that she remembers her parents taking her in a stroller as they marched during one of the demonstrations in Oakland California. “At one point she fell off the cart, and the adults [הוריה] “It was only later that her parents noticed she was gone, and they went back – and found a particularly grumpy toddler,” it was written. The interviewer notes that Harris “explodes every time.” Laughter “as she tells this story, in part because it ends with her mother, in an attempt to calm the sullen camel, asking her,” What do you want? What do you need? ”And the toddler Harris answered“ Fweedom ”(disruption of“ freedom ”) – as the many marchers around her must have shouted.

The interview received renewed attention on Monday after people on Twitter noticed that Harris’ story was remarkably similar to King’s story he shared in a 1965 interview, then said: “I will not forget that moment in Birmingham Alabama that a white cop attacked a seven- or eight-year-old black girl walking together With her mother. The policeman asked the toddler what she wanted, and the girl answered him Fee-dom (also a disruption of “freedom”) “. King added: “She did not even know how to pronounce it, but it was charming. I remember it a lot in difficult moments.”

Whether or not Harris ‘event occurred, many wonder if the small details and seemingly linguistic disruption that showed Harris’ involvement in the struggle at the most basic level are in fact King’s addition of Harris. According to Fox News, this is not the first time she has used this anecdote about her past. “Harris has a long history of using this story as part of a seemingly cool part of King,” Fox News reported Wednesday. According to the network, as early as 2004, the designated vice president used this story.
