While call of Duty: The Cold War of the Black Ops just released at the end of the 2020 tail, rumors are already starting to spread about the 2021 entry in the franchise. According to a new rumor from a ModernWarzone Twitter account, it looks like the next inbox will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. The developer has previously worked on games such as Call of Duty: WWII, Progressive warfare, and Modern War 3. The Tweet from ModernWarzone is available rooted below.

Sledgehammer Games has not commented on the Tweet above, but it is worth noting that the developer is currently recruiting for a number of different positions, with more than 90 openings as of February 3rd. That certainly doesn’t indicate that the developer is working on this year’s game, but it seems to be preparing for something big! Outside help on Cold War Black Ops and Modern warfare, the team has not been a major developer of the Call of Duty game since 2017’s WWII. That would give the team four years between full release, and there were three splits Progressive warfare and WWII.
Le Cold War Black Ops taking things back to the ’80s, it will be interesting to see the setting for the next Call of Duty game. If Sledgehammer is actually working on Call of Duty 2021, the developer has experience creating games that were set in the present day and during World War II. Activision might want to focus on the present before jumping into another game set in the past, but it seems to be just about anything possible.
For now, Call of Duty fans have to wait patiently! Fortunately, there should be plenty of content Cold War Black Ops and Warzone to keep fans satisfied for a long time.
