Dermot admitted he misses filming the show, which was launched in 2004, saying: ‘You definitely miss it. You work with people for the better part of 10 years and you become a very close-knit team.

Dermot, meanwhile, has revealed that he will be focusing on other projects and is currently presenting This Morning with Alison Hammond every Friday.

His father also first spoke of his relationship with X Factor boss Simon Cowell, 61, suggesting he has had little to do with the music titan while the show has been on the air.

Dermot explained: ‘He doesn’t have a phone, remember he has three PAs. But all his PAs are doing very well! ‘

A father-in-law has hosted the show since 2007, taking over from guest Kate Thornton, who was the presenter from 2004-2006.

Dermot has hosted every series since then, as well as in 2015 where he was replaced by former Love Island contestant and presenter Caroline Flack, Olly Murs.

When he’s not busy with his hard work schedule, Dermot spends as much quality time as he can with his nine-month-old son Kasper.
