Daniel Ricciardo has insisted that his debating season with McLaren will not be a “comedy show” with Lando Norris and has promised delivery for his new team.
Ricciardo has teamed up with McLaren for 2021 from Renault and in addition to creating an ultra-talented driver line with Norris – Australia’s nine-time race winner accepting the 21-year-old Brit – is expected plenty of it – Make fun of two of Formula 1 ‘s craziest and most personal drivers.
But despite all the laughter over the years as competitors, Ricciardo is convinced he is at McLaren “for business” alongside Norris and had a message for Woking team fans.
“It’s something I want to say again to everyone watching, and every McLaren fan in particular,” Ricciardo said in an interview with Craig Slater at Sky Sports News.
“It’s not going to be a comedy show.
“I’m going there for business, I’m going there to improve the car.
“My personality doesn’t change so I think I enjoy doing what I do … but of course I’m not going to be there like this meme power couple or whatever it ‘s called these days! “
McLaren finished third in the builders ’position last year – the highest finish since 2012 – and aim to build on that in 2021, when they will have Mercedes engines rather than Renault.

“I can honestly leave here feeling accomplished,” Ricciardo, who won two podiums last season, explained to Craig ahead of his last race for the team in Abu Dhabi .
“I think it’s important for me to feel like I put something back into this team. It was really the podiums, and just seeing the joy not only on my face but also on the face of the team. It had been so long. “
