Daniel Dae Kim hits ‘late’ milestone with new TV role

Lots of entertainment lights congratulate former TV star and acting producer Daniel Dae Kim on what many believe is a “very late” and “so well deserved” milestone.

On Wednesday, National Geographic announced that Kim and alum “Scandal” Tony Goldwyn have been tapped to appear in the second season of the anthology series “The Hot Zone.” And on Twitter, “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-0” actress Kim celebrated the throwaway update with fun facts:

“It’s the biggest news in the world today,” he tweeted. “But after 31 years working in TV, this is my first series director. ”

Screenwriters, entertainment journalists and co-stars alike greeted Kim, who captured the audience as Flight 815 Jin-Soo Kwon’s live cast in the long-running ABC series “Lost,” before being named Detective Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly in the CBS smash crime drama “Hawaii Five-0.”

Kim has appeared in other TV projects, including “Flack,” “She-Ra and Princesses of Power” and the well-known ABC medical drama “The Good Doctor,” which he also does.

“Ahh!” tweeted “Late Night With Seth Meyers” writer Karen Chee, along with featured party-hat emojis. “This deserves SO !!!!”

“Kim’s Convenience” actress Jean Yoon said the news broke January 13, Korea’s America’s Day, “no less,” which Kim called a beautiful coincidence. ”

In the next episode of “The Hot Zone,” titled “Anthrax,” Kim will play Matthew Ryker, an FBI agent who specializes in microbiology. Set just after 9/11, the new season sees Kim’s character team team up with microbiologist Bruce Ivins (Goldwyn) to keep track of and unmask the 2001 anthrax killer.

“Tony and Daniel are both incredibly versatile and versatile actors who bring complexity and depth to these characters,” Carolyn Bernstein, executive vice president of script and documentary films for National Geographic, said in a statement. “We can’t wait for their stars to be in this fascinating, timely scientific thrush.”

“Anthrax” follows the first intense season of Nat Geo drama, in which Emmy-winning Julianna Margulies as a veterinary pathologist struggles to contain the spread of Ebola. Work is expected to begin on the sophomore season of “The Hot Zone” this winter in Toronto.
