Dan Campbell has been with the New Orleans Saints for the last five NFL seasons
Dan Campbell, New Orleans Saints assistant head coach is to become the Detroit Lions’ new head coach.
The Lions announced the deal Wednesday and the 44-year-old Campbell will join Detroit one day after the introduction of new general manager Brad Holmes.

The new system will take over for Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn, the former coach and general manager who was fired in November.
Under their leadership, the Lions finished last in the NFC North for three consecutive seasons.
Newcomer Campbell was a tight end to the NFL and played 10 seasons, including three for the Lions.

He coached the Miami Dolphins and spent the past five seasons as assistant coach under Sean Payton with the Saints, who have been regular partners for play-offs.
After becoming interim head coach of the Dolphins in 2015, Campbell is going to be interim head coach for the first time.
