January 4 (UPI) – Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo hit twice in Juventus’ win over Udinese to overtake Pele football legend for No. 2 on the full-time official goal list.

The Juventus striker tied up Pele’s overall career in the 31st minute of Sunday’s 4-1 victory in Turin, Italy. He overtook Pele with another goal in the 70th minute.

Ronaldo’s life span is now at 758 for club and country. Pele scored 757 goals when playing for Santos, Cosmos, and the Brazilian national team from 1956 through 1971.

Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey helped Ronaldo’s first score on Sunday. Ramsey stole the ball from Udinese before kissing a pass up the left to blow up the series.

Ronaldo then went into the box before ripping a bullet into the far net. The score stood as the only record in the first half before Ronaldo helped Juventus double their win in the Italian Serie A league match.

The Juventus striker got a pass near midfield at the start of that play. He then turned and put a pass behind the defense for the right wing Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa grabbed the bait before using his right foot to beat Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso in the 49th minute.

Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Betancur set Ronaldo’s second score about 21 minutes later. Betancur went out across the middle of the park and stole the ball from Udinese before seeing Ronaldo run on his left. He then sent a ball through towards the Udinese box.

Ronaldo took one touchdown before using his right foot for a shot just inside the right post for a 3-0 lead.

Udinese winger Marvin Zeegelaar cut into Juventus’ win with a score in the 90th minute. Juventus striker Paulo Dybala then scored the final goal in the third minute of stoppage time.
