The research was conducted by a team of scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The team studied brain scans of different groups of participants: those who used personal credit cards to make daily purchases and those who stood up for money. And, according to the study, buying money does not stimulate the same “reward networks” in the brain.
The researchers found that credit cards’ step on the ‘gas’ by increasing confidence to spend no matter what the cost.

But different cards can arouse different desires, the study showed. Cards used in restaurants and on holidays create more desire for consumption than cards used to buy fuel, for example.
Researchers do not rule out that the same reaction could be caused by any kind of “worry payment technology”, suggesting that new ways of buying or digital currencies may stimulate the “reward network” in unexpected ways, forcing people to step back from their old treasure. customs.
