More than $ 6 billion has been invested in the distribution of the Australian coronavirus vaccine, with contracts for more than 150 million doses in total and a third to be made by the pharmaceutical giant CSL in Victoria.

The President of the Australian Medical Association, Omar Khorshid, said no party was better equipped to deliver the vaccines than GP clinics.

People would then receive their Covid-19 injection near their home.

‘GPs have a proven history of influenza vaccination in older Australians and those living with chronic disease, which make up the majority of stage 1B transmission,’ said Dr Khorshid.

It is gratifying to see the majority of GPs raise their hands to take part in this vital national program.
