Coronavirus: Internal Health officials name 57 new cases – Okanagan

Internal Health reported 57 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday afternoon.

The new cases are above the average of 47 daily cases reported by the health agency over a five-day period between Dec. 25 and 29.

During that period, Internal Health reported 239 cases and 10 deaths.

On Wednesday, however, no new deaths were reported. The overall death rate for the area remains at 28.

With the 57 new cases, the total number of cases in the Internal Health area rose to 3,806.

Of those, 3,142 have been recovered, and 636 have been assessed as active and isolated, with 36 people in hospital, including six in intensive care.

  • Heritage retirement residence in West Kelowna: 30 cases (25 residents, 5 employees). One death was linked to this uprising.
  • McKinney Place long-term care in Oliver: 75 cases (54 residents, 21 employees). Twelve deaths connected with this uprising.
  • Village next to Penticton Long Term Care Station: 9 cases (5 residents, 4 employees). One death was linked to this rebellion.
  • Long-term care of Mountainview Village in Kelowna: 16 cases (8 residents, 8 staff). Two deaths linked to this uprising.

In related news, Vernon ‘s Hamlets posted on its Facebook page that a member of the retirement home team has been positive for COVID-19.

“We are not in the COVID revolution, we have just emerged as one result of a positive result from a member of the team,” Vernon Hamlets said on its Facebook page, adding that residents are not showing symptoms.

“The Centre’s Disease Unit and a medical health officer say we are at low risk, as the team member was following proper infection control measures while they were working.

“We have chosen it as the site to maintain a strict warning for the rest of the week, to ensure the safety of our residents and team members. ”
