Twitter has announced that it will begin removing tweets that include misleading and harmful information, with the first issue being targeted – the vaccine for corona. Among the issues can be found unfounded rumors, controversial claims and partial and out-of-context information on the subject of corona vaccines. The company’s announcement also states that starting in 2021, tweets including conspiracy theories will be marked.
They stressed that tweets that do not include information that causes damage and injury will not be removed, but are likely to receive some marking, referring to a trusted source of information on the subject. This is a mark similar to the one that appears on Donald Trump’s tweets, in which he claims to have won the US presidential election.
Earlier this week, Tiktok announced a similar move, in which people who search for information on corona vaccines in the application will be referred to reliable information by global experts. Also, videos showing information about vaccines will be marked, outreach efforts will be made in partnership with scientists from around the world. The company also stated that they will strengthen and brief Tiktok’s test teams and that they will work with experts to test third – party facts. In addition, Tiktok will soon introduce the new vaccine hashtag to locate and tag all videos that use the words and hashtags associated with the corona epidemic.
Facebook announced earlier this month that posts containing misinformation about vaccines, refuted by health experts, would be removed from the network. The contents removed will include false information about the safety, efficacy, ingredients and side effects of the vaccines.

Among the details to be removed: Claims that corona vaccines are inserted into chips, as well as any other claim about ingredients that do not appear on the vaccine’s official list of ingredients. In addition, conspiracy theories about corona vaccines that we now know to be false will be removed – such as claims that specific populations are exploited without their consent to the vaccine’s safety test.
