John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and possibly more members of the Houston Rockets will miss a regular-season opener Wednesday as a result of a COVID-19 communications discovery, according to Shams Charania of Athletics.
The Rockets announced Tuesday that Ben McLemore is in solitude, while reports appear early Wednesday that James Harden was under investigation for a possible protocol breach.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski at Per ESPN, although McLemore tested positive for COVID-19, it was not the positive test that caused the contact detection. The other player was tested again to confirm, Woj said. Meanwhile, Athlete Sam Amick reports that the discovery of communication is too or connected to Harden, despite the fact that it could violate NBA protocol.
As of noon Wednesday, the team had not yet issued an official comment.
Wednesday’s game between the Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder is scheduled to begin at 7pm Midway from the Toyota Center.
With several Houston team members seemingly unavailable, it’s an open question who head coach Stephen Silas taps for minutes.
