Teammate Conor McGregor has urged the former two-time champion to immediately remake Dustin Poirier, but warned he must change his style if he is to succeed against the Diamond .
McGregor’s return to the UFC ended in a big loss when Poirier, 32, knocked out his Irish rival in the second round to solidify his position as one of the top lights in the sport.
The Louisiana native is expected to fight for the title next, with retired Khabib Nurmagomedov opening the door for a 155-pound legion to challenge the belt.

The Notorious suffered a major loss when he returned to the UFC at Fight Island last month
However, the Notorious is hopeful he can fight Poirier for the third time, having been sent off in 2014 before last month ‘s blow.
And team-mate Frans Mlambo would like to see the Irishman take on Poirier next, claiming that the financial gains from a third fight could force the Diamond to abandon title plans for now.
‘I want to get them relocated as soon as possible,’ Mlambo told The Sun. ‘However, it doesn’t seem immediately, given that Poirier is performing so well, his title has to go after him and he may see that as a priority for him.

On the other hand, financially it would be a good move for all involved.
‘The reason I say is just how the two fights went, the first time it went over Poirier and then the second time it was the other way around. Now they are at rest and I decide that reinstatement is appropriate in that situation. ‘
However, Mlambo warned that McGregor must undertake a change of style if he is to show victory over Poirier.
McGregor used a boxing stand in the UFC 254 case as a precursor to Manny Pacquiao’s mega-money fight, but was punished with a number of brutal foot kicks that put the Irishman down sharply as the tournament developed.

“With this fight he had more boxing standing, he was moving differently and I feel like the pictures he throws out there weren’t as lame,” he said.

McGregor admitted this week that he deserved to be kicked in the legs as a result of his boxing stance as he wanted the hungry to get involved in a trilogy fight.
‘A little single controlled in my approach and my stance with mostly boxing,’ he wrote on Instagram. What I get for picking up this beat and my opponent is as a precursor to a boxing match against Pacman.
