Conor McGregor remembers the difficult first time with UFC boss Dana White in 2007

‘I don’t think he liked that too much’: Conor McGregor recalls the first difficult UFC header Dana White in 2007 … with the superstitious question about money for her future chiefs cause him to INVOLVE!

  • Conor McGregor traveled to Manchester to watch UFC 270 as a 16-year-old boy
  • The future UFC superstar had met his future boss, Dana White, at the event
  • McGregor chose to ask ‘how much money’ was White in his pocket at the time
  • The strange nature of what happened came to an abrupt end when White walked away

Conor McGregor has recalled his first humorous debut with Dana White at the age of just 16 – although the idea clearly failed after the UFC boss ‘walked off’.

The legendary Irishman enjoyed a short run with White at UFC 70 in 2007, just a year before he embarked on his first MMA tour.

The meeting between the two was definitely not planned for McGregor, however, who explained in an interview how his strange question fell on deaf ears.

In his first sitting with ESPN in 2014, McGregor said: ‘When I was 16, I was at my first UFC event as a fan.

‘After the event, Dana stays and takes photos with the fans. I ran down to the railings and saw Dana and I was like, “Dana, Dana.”

“He looked at me…” How much money do you have in your pocket right now this second one? “

‘He looked at me with a weird face and then just kind of walked off.

So I don’t think he enjoyed that much, but it was fun. I was just a little kid dreaming about the big time. ‘

Despite their rocky introduction, the two men have gone on to make UFC history together.

McGregor, 32, returns to the Octagon on January 23 – his first appearance in more than a year.

But the fate of the previous two-time champion was unclear last year.

McGregor was called by White after he leaked messages from a conversation between them – in which they had talked about opponents and possible events.

‘Everyone here, even the women, knows this is some man code stuff,’ White said.

‘It’s just something you don’t do. This is one of the dirtiest things you can do, because we were just talking about Diego Sanchez.

‘And Diego Sanchez is in there in a private conversation I was having with Conor.’
