Conflict between Caspit and Smutrich: “A comparison between a gay man and a pervert”

A sharp confrontation broke out today (Thursday) between Ben Caspit and the chairman of Religious Zionism, MK Bezalel Smutrich, over a debate over the issue of homosexuals. As part of Ben Caspit’s program and Winon Magal on 103FM, the two spoke with a Knesset member. Caspit asked him about one of the contestants on the list, Avi Maoz. The latter, Caspit claimed, is “also a homophobe and some claim he is also a bit racist.” Smutrich did not remain obligated and attacked back.

“Where are you hiding Avi Maoz?” Ben Caspit wondered during the interview. “Avi Maoz is a great man,” Smutrich replied, “who has been doing good for the people of Israel for many years. I am very happy about his partnership on our list. His decisions to be interviewed are his decisions. I am a Democrat.”

“He is also a homophobe and some claim that he is also a bit racist, but everything is fine,” the Knesset member said financially, responding: “Son, do not hand out grades to people, okay?” Caspit reiterated that Maoz was a homophobe and asked MK Smutrich if he disagreed with him.

“By the way, he’s not far from your views,” Caspic attacked Smutrich. The Knesset member does not remain obligated: “My dear son, we are not homophobes, we have a sharp value and cultural debate here. I try not to hurt others and use derogatory nicknames because I understand that this is not the way, but I have a perceptive debate against this culture and its values “Great of conservative family values. When you call someone a homophobe, your goal is to demonize his position. If you do not want me to call you a pervert do not call me a homophobe.”

“You got the comparison between a gay man and a pervert,” Caspit responded. Smutrich responded in his defense: “You have to ask yourself if you have the courage to deal with different opinions of your own or if you are not able to do it intelligently, and flee to the districts of Sheaming.”
