Cisco translates video calls into Hebrew – in real time

Cisco has announced the availability of a preview of its real-time translation software and at the same time dramatically expanded its language library from 10+ to more than 100 languages, from Armenian, Zulu to Hebrew. As part of the new Webex system, organizations can provide employees with holistic and effective collaboration experiences.

Users can create their own personal Webex experience by quickly and easily choosing their preferred language from the most common languages, such as Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish, as well as more local languages such as Danish, Hindi, Malay, Turkish, Vietnamese and of course Hebrew.

The software allows businesses to focus on finding the best talent regardless of where they are or their native language. A recent report by Metrigy on Smart Virtual Assistants found that nearly 24% of English-speaking sessions include non-English speakers.

Of these, more than half are already using third-party services to translate sessions into other languages (averaging $ 172 per session). Combining smart virtual session assistants with language translation capabilities significantly reduces or even eliminates this cost altogether. Also, the digital assistant of the system also makes the calls accessible to people with disabilities by transcribing in real time what was said during the sessions.

Oren Sagi, CEO of Cisco Israel: “The new features of the WEBEX system help create a global playing field without limitations for businesses and people all over the globe and here in Israel the calls are also accessible to people with disabilities by transcribing in real time what was said during the meetings. Working conversations with partners and clients from abroad will be simpler, more accessible and will enable efficient, effective and flexible management of international joint work.

“Real-time translation technology is another step towards the technological and business future, it is a significant step in the globalization of all fields and will enable many Israeli businesses to make the leap from the national field to the international field. “Artificial intelligence technology plays an integral role in the hybrid work model that has become inseparable from our lives and enables a smart, good and pleasant customer and user experience.”
