Tom Holland ‘s quest to prove that he is not just a superhero film actor continues. Just as Robert Pattinson recreated himself after the Twilight films, Holland has recently selected many films that require a lot more emotion in his part than he does as Peter Parker.
His most recent single is Cherry, directed by Avengers: Endgame director duo, The Russo Brothers. Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg have written the screenplay.
The film, based on the novel by the same name by Nico Walker, on Holland narrates the role of an Iraqi veteran who returns home with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and begins to bank robbery.
Before going to war, he had married his girlfriend, but now he has returned a man who has changed. Will he be able to continue his friendship or is he well gone? And if everything wasn’t gloomy enough, he’s also addicted to opioids.
The film deals with gloomy themes but seems to use humor to balance the tone. The story looks like a complex character study of a young man and the Dutchman, at least in the trailer, is doing a great job in the role.
However, his boyish face forever destroys the impact of a stony veteran he clearly wants to deliver.
The film’s official line-up states, “In a huge odyssey of romance, war, drug addiction, and crime, a young man (Tom Holland) struggles to find a place in the world. ”
Cherry will air in US theaters on February 26 and will first appear on Apple TV Plus on March 12.
