Charles Leclerc says he is suffering from mild symptoms after testing positive for the coronavirus
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has been positive for the coronavirus.
Leclerc said he had mild symptoms but felt “okay”. He had already become self-absorbed at his home in Monaco after being in contact with a progressive case afterwards.
Leclerc is the fifth F1 driver for a positive test for the virus after Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll, Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris.
“I want to let you know that I have tested positive for Covid-19,” Leclerc posted on his Twitter account.
“I receive regular check-ups according to my team’s protocols. Unfortunately, I have learned that I have been communicating with a positive issue and immediately went into self-isolation, which contacting anyone I have been in contact Another test I have taken has come back positive.
“I feel fine and have mild symptoms. I will stay alone in my home in Monaco according to the rules set by the local health authorities. Stay safe and be careful.”
Leclerc finished eighth in the 2020 driver position
Leclerc’s advanced trial comes in the same week that the start of the 2021 Formula One season was delayed, as the Australian and Chinese Prix Grands were postponed due to coronavirus restrictions.
The previously recorded season opener in Melbourne has been pushed back from March 19-21 to November, with Bahrain now ready to host the first race of the season a week later .

“Charles contacted us immediately and has contacted everyone he has been in close contact with in the last few days. He is currently feeling OK with symptoms. is calm and is now alone at home in Monaco. “
Leclerc is expected to start the season with a new teammate, after Ferrari Carlos Sainz replaced Sebastian Vettel for the 2021 campaign.
The Scuderia look ahead to a very bleak 2020, finishing sixth in the builders ’position, with Leclerc in eighth among drivers.
