Aaron Jones rushed for 145 yards and sailed while the Green Bay Packers held the late Carolina Panthers rally to a 24-16 win Saturday night.

Jones scored an eight-yard run in the second quarter to see Green Bay stretch the lead to 21-3 before halftime. Carolina cut twice that led to one score in the second half, but eventually proved it was too little too late as Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater could not lead his team down the field for the TD to was connecting the game at the last minute.

The Packers started the game hot, opening the scoring on their first possession. Rodgers teamed up with Robert Tonyan for a one-yard touchdown pass, which ended a seven-game, 81-yard touchdown pass.

The play marked Tonyan’s 10th round of the season and his fifth game in a row with a score. It has been the starter season for the tight end, who made his debut for Green Bay in 2018 as an unknown free agent from Indiana State.

Carolina pulled within 7-3 on a 36-yard field goal by Joey Slye later in the first quarter, but the Packers pulled ahead with two TDs in the second quarter – Rodgers himself scoring on a six-run run. -slat before Jones sought the endzone.

The Panthers came back in the second half, with Bridgewater scoring first on a 13-yard run, before doubling it as a one-score game through Slye’s boot – both sides of Mason Crosby’s field goal for Green Bay, who giving them some wiggle space.

Rodgers came under increasing pressure from the Panthers defense, being sacked four times, and the Panthers would get one last chance to tie the game and take it to extra time but couldn’t for them to put up a last minute drive.
