Caris LeVert didn’t even hear the first question asked of him on a Zoom call by reporters after Monday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The first opportunity he got to speak, he dismissed the sad news the Nets received on Monday regarding Spencer Dinwiddie.
“First of all, I just want to say, that’s gone for Spence, man. I know that that is a very serious injury. That’s one of my brothers We’ve built a close bond over the last two years, ”said LeVert as his voice cracked a little. “So be sure to pray for him. I spoke to him earlier today, he seemed to be in good spirits. But, of course, praying for him, fighting for him for the rest of the season for sure. ”
Steve Nash seemed to be wiping away tears after speaking to the news of DLwiddie being ripped to ACL level on Zoom’s call by reporters ahead of Monday night’s game.
“Just sorry for Spencer,” Nash said. “It simply came to our notice then. Obviously, he’s an awesome player who was able to fill many positions for us, and he’s a great athlete as well. He will be missed. But, more importantly, we all feel for Spence and look forward to him being healthy again and back on the floor. ”
Joe Harris – who, like Dinwiddie, had his NBA career turning heavily in the right direction when he joined Brooklyn – talked about his longtime Nets squad as well.
“I mean, it’s devastating,” Harris said. “It’s a difficult blow for the team. Spencer is clearly an All-Star-caliber player and his loss has a huge impact – every head of the ball. Even for a moral reason, you never want one of your players to go down. ”
