Can hiccups be a hallmark of COVID-19? Here’s what doctors want you to know, and what you should do

The person’s case study is subject to further assessment. But, even if it were horrible, it could be that lumps come up as in a way when the virus starts attacking the vital organs.

Currently, the human display of persistent hiccups has been termed ‘rare’. However, the cause of lumps is when something interferes with the muscles that regulate respiratory function – in this case, the deadly virus SARS-COV-2.

Hiccups occur when there is a spasm in the diaphragm. Humility in the phrenic nerve, which extends from the neck to the diaphragm causes shortening, which, in turn, leads to a distinct ‘hic’ sound sensation with hiccups.

It should also be noted that the modern coronavirus is already known to be very lethal to the respiratory system and causes complications such as shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. So, Hiccups could be a weird side effect to be warned about.

Interestingly, in the past, hiccups have been linked to diseases such as the flu and tuberculosis.
