Call of Duty, one of the most popular first-person shooter game franchises, launched its mobile version, Call of Duty Mobile, last October. The game was an instant success, breaking all sorts of records and racking in 100 million downloads in its first week alone, and around 150 million installations in the first month.
Call of Duty Mobile has collected around 300 million downloads to date and is on its way to becoming a billion-dollar game. The title is hugely popular and reached 1 billion hours spent on Android phones worldwide in the peak month, as reported by App Annie.
Tencent and Activision launched Call of Duty Mobile in China today.
The game, developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio, had nearly 70m pre-records before it was launched and paid out at # 1 on the iOS gaming chart.

The title was allowed to launch in China this August, as games must go through strict Chinese censorship before it can be released in the country. While Tencent is on Call of Duty: Online for PC in China, this is the first time Call of Duty will be introduced to the majority of gamers in China, tweeted Daniel Ahmad.
He also said that Tencent is positioning the title as the main IP shooter, along with other crucial games such as Peacekeeper Elite and CrossFire. The title is developed by Timi Studios (a subsidiary of Tencent Games) and published by Activision / Garena.
Tencent Games Arena hosted an inviting LAN event, COD Mobile Invitational, scheduled between December 25th and December 27th. Eight teams competed for a grand prize collection of 250,000 CNY (approximately 38k USD). The competition saw some famous teams like Qing Jiu Club, All Gamers, Evolution Power, FunPlus Phoenix, and so on.
