“Call Netanyahu”: Danny Danon’s tweet that shocked Hollywood

Israel’s former ambassador to the UN and chairman of the World Likud, Danny Danon, posted a controversial tweet on his Twitter account today (Wednesday). Danon wondered why US President Joe Biden did not call Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after talking to a long line of leaders, and even attaching the phone number of the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem.

“President Biden, you have called leaders from Canada, Mexico, Britain, India, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, South Korea and Russia. Isn’t it time to talk to the leader of Israel as well – the closest ally of the United States?” And as stated attached the telephone number of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The tweet caused a stir and the many reactions were not long in coming. Prominent commentators included Aviv Geffen, who wrote: “Add zero to zero before the narrator because he calls from America,” film actor and comedian Seth Rogen, who wrote: “This is the most Jewish tweet ever: ‘You never call,'” And the American journalist and news presenter Jake Tapper who shared the tweet and stressed that this is Israel’s former ambassador to the UN.
