“I thought Lamar was upset, but trying to figure out how to defend this guy? He has a weapon too; those wide catchers are great and he has a tight end [Travis Kelce] that’s probably the best thing in the league.

“You have to try to figure out a way to slow them down, and he starts with the quarterback. Athletics; he’s a smart player too.
“You have to figure out a way to really believe it. But I say the same thing that every defensive coordinator in the league says when they play it – not many people have been successful. in reducing it, but we’re going to try. “
Frazier was interviewed by his teammate with the Chicago Bears, Shaun Gayle, the pair who won the 1985 Super Bowl together.
He says that is “the motivation” for this group of Bills as they look back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 27 years, and win it for the first time.

“We are going to do what we can this weekend in preparation to ensure we have the opportunity to sustain that award. “
Frazier, a former Black coach in the NFL – and head coach for the Minnesota Vikings from 2011-13 – also commented on the lack of diversity at the league’s top coaching career.

Out of the 32 teams, there are currently two Black head coaches in the NFL, Brian Flores with the Miami Dolphins and Mike Tomlin with the Pittsburgh Steelers, one top Hispanic coach is Ron Rivera of the Washington Football Team, and Robert Saleh became the first Muslim head coach in the league by hiring with the New York Jets this week.
The Jets ’opening was one of seven head coaching vacancies after the end of the 2020 regular season, and out of those seven only the Houston Texans remain unfilled, and none of the other jobs have been taken up by minority ethnic candidate.
“You’ll be surprised what it’s going to take for African Americans to step up to those head coaching opportunities,” Frazier said.
“Maybe people like you [Gayle], who has a voice and who has an audience, continues to talk about it, continues to raise the issue and says ‘this is not good enough’, it is needed to whether change will occur.
“Over time I think it will, but we have to keep the statement going, or everyone will think it’s okay and things will stick to the status quo.
“You have to keep talking about it, continue to make it an issue, so that people pay attention to it.”
