After avoiding his fourth straight cut on Friday, Brooks Koepka was disappointed with the way he played much of Saturday ‘s third round at TPC Scottsdale.
Through 12 holes, Koepka even equated to just one birdie.
“It was just hard today to be honest with you,” Koepka said. “I felt like I was in between [clubs] first front nine and of course they didn’t have a good number and didn’t do as many quality shots. ”
But Koepka survived down the field, fishing four of his last five holes to shoot 5-under 66 and get to 13 under. He’s five looks back from Open Phoenix Waste Management directors Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele, but is also tied for seventh.

So what does it take to win for the first time since 2019 in Memphis?
“Maybe at least 63,” Koepka said. “Something like that. It is impossible. You just have to make a good start on the face of nine. The nine backs are definitely impossible if you put it in the right spots.
“Anything that happens can be the ones that close four or five holes. ”
