Brooklyn Nets star James Harden delivers food, water, plumbing helps make Houston a ‘ruined’ city

James Harden has garnered a lot of support on the basketball court this season, but his most important help is coming off the court.

With the state of Texas facing a prolonged power and water crisis caused by a winter storm, Harden has been working to help the city of Houston, where he played from 2012-21 before being tackled last month. went to the Nets.

On Saturday, Harden delivered 3,000 meals to Houstonians through his new restaurant “Thirteen,” and has also been working to provide much-needed water and plumbing support.

“I have been making phone calls literally every day all day, trying to make an impact on the city because they have shown me so much love and respect in my time and time. that’s what I call Houston home, ”Harden said after scoring 37 points.

“It’s terrible, of course. This is probably worse than a hurricane just because we don’t know how many people are affected, without electricity, without power, without the ability to eat or be outside or whatever happens. ”

Harden is also working with contractors and plumbers to help with explosive pipes caused by the frigid conditions.

“We’re trying to feed as many people as we can,” he said. “[Also] lots of rain, shout out to Body Armor who are helping me with that, we will be getting a lot of water in this week for people, which I will post. And then as far as plumbing, I reached out and am in touch with some plumbing companies that have been there for the last few days taking care of 7-8 houses per day that because of the return of electricity, pipes are likely to explode and we have seen so many cases in Houston that I have been in contact with the Major. [Sylvester] Turner, the Relief Gang, just as many people can help while I’m not there and obviously this is a big problem, but I try to influence and help as much as I can as long as I am not there. ”

Ugly Harden fell out with the Rockets after he jumped in at the start of training camp and then called for a trade, saying last month that the Rockets just “didn’t their chance to win. ”

Since Harden joined the Nets, they are 13-6 and are now seated at 20-12, half a game behind Philadelphia

However, he maintains strong ties with Houston and has vowed to continue to support the people there.

“And it won’t stop because there are so many people affected by this,” he said, “I can’t stop.”
