Brian Harman’s birdie bonanza leads to a Masters invitation

AUSTIN, Texas – Brian Harman returned in the morning to beat Bubba Watson at the WGC-Dell Technologies Game and advance to the quarterfinals, but before his afternoon game against Matt Kuchar there was something else to be celebrated.

After kicking off the 59th week in the world rankings, Harman’s 2-and-1 win over Watson made sure he moved into the top 50 on Monday and was invited to the Masters.

“It’s very special,” he said. “I was wondering if I got out of the group [stage] I had a chance, and then I kindly looked at it and knew I had to win today. Feels good. ”

Harman, who is from Savannah, Georgia, last played the Masters in 2018 and will play his best golf of the season after tying for third place at the Players Championship and three wins. consecutive at Austin Country Club from Day 1 loss to Patrick Cantlay.
