About a week ago, the mother, 41, arrived at Barzilai Hospital and was hospitalized after feeling unwell. This is a woman without a background illness, and tests performed on her revealed that she had corona. The hospital said her condition was serious, and she was therefore hospitalized in the Corona Intensive Care Unit, anesthetized and resuscitated.

Following information that reached the patients’ social worker, it became clear that her five children were left at home, without a relative, since the father was apparently not in the picture. Volunteers from the hospital treated them and later brought them to the hospital, where they were examined and found all verified to Corona, the 16.5-year-old older was in the most difficult condition, and the other children, when the youngest was eight, were in a light condition.
It happened last Friday, when the big girl’s condition deteriorated, and a decision was made to hospitalize everyone in the Corona ward.
The mother has since been hospitalized in Corona Intensive Care. The girl in the coronary intensive care unit is receiving children, and is receiving medication, and she is having difficulty breathing. In light of the benefit of their condition, it was decided to release them in the evening, for treatment by a relative. The mother is still hospitalized, but she was awakened from the anesthesia, and she contacted her children.
The hospital said that in the last day there was a record occupancy of Corona patients: 74 hospitalized, a figure that reflects a 32% increase within a week. It was also reported that another 10 corona patients were admitted to hospital today, and currently 74 corona patients are hospitalized at the medical center, of whom 5 are in intensive care, 5 in the pediatric ward, a girl in pediatric intensive care and a mother with corona. Six of the patients were the mother and her five children, and in one of the wards a married couple is hospitalized together.
Prof. Yaniv Scherer, Director of the Barzilai Medical Center: “The Barzilai Medical Center currently operates four corona wards, and we are witnessing a serious illness, in a wide range of ages and among different and diverse groups of Israeli society. We reiterate: On the instructions, and to avoid any gathering – and especially to get vaccinated against the corona. ‘
