Brazil reports the highest daily increase in Covid-19 cases since the outbreak began the pandemic

Brazil reported 90,303 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday – the highest daily increase in infections since the outbreak began.

The country’s total workload now stands at 11,693,838, according to its health ministry. Brazil has recorded 284,775 virus-related deaths, with 2,648 new deaths reported Wednesday.

The new high rate of daily infections came after Brazil reported the highest daily coronavirus death toll of 2,841 Tuesday, with ICU occupancy rates exceeding 80% in 25 of the country’s 26 states and the region his federal.

On Tuesday, the Brazilian research institute Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FioCruz) warned that the country’s coronavirus crisis was “the biggest health and hospital collapse in Brazilian history.”
