JTA – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wished there was happy UK pride in a video message shared Friday on social media that some Yiddish noted at least one benefit to the person- reic Zoom.
Johnson acknowledged that the holiday would once again be marked on its own for many with COVID-19 outbreaks going on, even as the UK is producing much of the world in vaccinating the population.
“Sadly for the second year in a row, this is the most relaxed festival taking place at a time when family and friends and neighbors are unable to come together as they normally would,” he said.

While many restrictions are in place, some are beginning to build, and starting Monday, Britons will be allowed to gather in groups of six from a maximum of two houses.
But that comes too late for Passover vendors, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights, and will still be largely confined to home or take place over Zoom.
“Even the second time, it’s not at all what everyone is used to, but the haroset will be just as sweet and the matzah just as meaningful,” Johnson said. “And you get something that generations have dreamed of for thousands of years: the ability to move the inevitable kvetch of the board.”
