BOE reportedly wins OLED supply orders for ‘iPhone 13’ models

BOE will be one of the leading suppliers of OLED display panels for the upcoming “iPhone 13” lineup, a supply chain report says.

The Chinese company is said to be working with a GIS touch panel provider to develop OLED panels for the next iPhone, according to a new report from Taiwan. Daily economic news.

Back in 2020, reports showed that BOE would supply some display panels for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models. These plans were apparently thwarted when the BOE ran into production bottles.

The company was said to be struggling with quality assurance inspections, and rumors suggested that it had not tested the first set of display panels. Apple was said to be visiting BOE as a supply chain partner later in 2020, although there were signs that the company was still struggling.

According to a report Monday from Daily economic news, BOE seems to have overcome some of these issues. The report claims that the company’s OLED technology is now “closer to the technology of South Korea’s major manufacturers.” In 2020, Samsung ended up offering most of its -OLED commands for the iPhone 12 Pro lineup.

Apple is reportedly working on more technically complex screens for the “iPhone 13,” with both low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) displays and ProMotion displays in some models. The latter feature could allow variable screen refresh rates between 60Hz and 120HZ.

Despite the complexity of the new displays, the BOE was said to have won some orders for the new line.
