LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Boba Fett joins the “Star Wars” characters who step out from the back and get their own show.
Jon Favreau, creator of the popular Disney TV series “The Mandalorian,” said Monday that “Boba Fett’s Book” will be a stand-alone spinoff series featuring the bounty clone hunter who was previously known for his help capture Han Solo in the sci- fi saga.
Favreau told “Good Morning America” that the series, which was watched last week, will appear on the Disney + streaming service in December 2021.
“This is definitely different from season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’,” Favreau said.
The “Mandalorian,” which has been a huge hit for Disney +, features Pedro Pascal as a bounty hunter set on a sensory journey and reveals his favorite Baby Yoda. This is the first animated TV series based in distant astronomy, first seen on the 1977 film “Star Wars”.
Favreau said that “Boba Fett’s Book” was in addition to the 10 TV shows and new films related to Disney announced by Disney earlier this month.
He said the Boba Fett series had been withheld from that release because “we didn’t want to spoil the surprise”.
“Boba Fett’s Book” will be set in the same timeline as “The Mandalorian” – shortly after the events of the 1983 film “The Return of the Jedi,” Favreau said.
