Oded Katash got Panathinaikos out of the crisis, when the Israeli achieved his third victory in the Euroleague, and he was the most impressive of all – a huge 77:88 over Olympiacos away.
In fact, her ninth victory in Europe has brought Pao closer to just two games away from 11th-placed Olympiacos. Even the fact that the star of the Greens, Nemanja Nedovic was absent due to injury did not change too much as Howard St. Ross successfully filled his place with 20 points and 5 assists. Shaquille McSick stood out on the other side with 20 points and 5 rebounds.
The game was close until the third quarter, when the Greens opened a double-digit advantage from which the host could not come back. Olympiacos, however, made comeback votes at the start of the final quarter as Costas Sloukas narrowed the gap to just two points, but the Greens took control of the game again and closed the story in the closing minutes.
Meanwhile, Katsch managed to take revenge on Olympiacos after she defeated his team in the previous two meetings in Europe. So what’s next? The Greens will try to continue the momentum on Sunday when they try to return to winning the league, in a not-so-simple away encounter against Pauk. In the Euroleague, Katsch will try to achieve his third victory in a row (after Valencia and Olympiacos) when Pau goes into a not-so-simple away game against Zenit St. Petersburg on February 17.
