The four judges are expected to play for the first time in the series’ 14-year history on display.

Presenters Ant and Dec, both 45, at the same time, join the panel on stage as they transform into Christmas fairies.

Actor David admitted that while he can’t wait for Simon to return, he believes the bitter businessman would not take part in the show if he was involved in the Christmas rehearsal.

‘Believe him, he never let that be his thing. I’d say with Simon, it’s great to play standing on the platform and throw a knife next to his head or something like that! But you wouldn’t find him singing or dancing. ‘

Amanda, a hearty breakfast host, explained why the show comes at a good time for viewers during the pandemic, saying: ‘Well, it’ s the perfect gift, isn’t it, for everyone anyone?

‘After this year, I think BGT on Christmas Day for the first time ever will be a real tonic for everyone. This show got it all. It makes you cry. It will make you smile with a smile. It makes you think.

‘I was just sitting there thinking how proud I am that I have been a part of each of those acts’ on stage. Right from the start, it was as if my life was raining down on me.

‘It’s an honor to be part of Christmas television, because it’s a special day to be there. No vote, no contest, did that change the mood of the show?

We celebrate everything it means to be British, but with this particular thing there is no winner, it is not about that, it is just a celebration of the show and just a show of good entertainment , wide.

It was a pleasure to be a part of it. I think both Alesha and I were very anxious, but I kept telling her that we were performing in the best conditions ever. ‘
