Antoine Conte Disappointed (Radad Jabara)
Now it’s final and official. Betar Jerusalem released Antoine Conte from the club tonight (Thursday). Chairman Eli Ohana met with the player at the team’s offices and informed him of the end of his career and that he would no longer be part of the team, when his residence permit in Israel expires in a few days.
Conte is hugely complicated on the criminal side, with last month sentenced to three years in prison – one in practice and another two on probation, following a serious incident that occurred in December 2016 when he was playing in France, in which he beat a 19-year-old boy using a baseball bat. In the past, Conte even confronted Ohana and asked to be released.
Since joining the Jerusalemites in the 2016/17 season, the brake has recorded 94 appearances in which he scored twice and cooked another 5. This season the Frenchman played only 11 times in the team of Slobodan Drapic and Shay Barda, when his last game was 0: 4 against Hapoel Hadera on January 6. Since then, Conte has no longer been included in the team’s squad from the capital.
