“Becoming a Thinker for Us”: Will Zehavi equal DePay?

Beginning of an article

When Eran Zehavi started the season in the Netherlands, several incidents that happened one after the other led to his name being linked with a possible return to Maccabi Tel Aviv. His balance sheet for five league and seven goals in all competitions and suddenly, it seems that PSV needs him much more.

“The first months were very difficult for him,” said Roger Schmidt, the team’s coach, about the Israeli before the top game against Feyenoord. “He was not physically ready at that time, but he is ready now. He is becoming more important to us from game to game. The relationship between him and Donil Mullen is improving, they are learning from each other. The motivation? Eran has always been well motivated.”

For PSV, for the sake of prestige, the meeting with Feyenoord is intended to close a corner that remains open – as the red-whites have not beaten Feyenoord since February 2018, for two consecutive seasons. If Zehavi continues in great form and wins again this time, a third game in a row, he will become the second PSV player to do so after Mullen. In fact, if he wins – Zahavi will become the first PSV player to score for Feyenoord and Ajax in the same season since Memphis DePay did so in 2014/15.
