Bayern Munich will respond to Leipzig’s pressure to beat BVB 4-2

We should never expect anything different from this Bayern Munich side. Even after going down 2-0 against Borussia Dortmund in form. Even after the Rekordmeister put extra pressure after RB Leipzig’s main class against SC Freiburg, which saw the Red Bulls immediately take their place from Bayern in the Bundesliga record.

Hyped by the Deutsche Fußball Liga and shown live on ABC, the concern was that Bayern Munich would overthrow Borussia Dortmund again, watering the mills of those skeptical about the quality of the Bundesliga as a result of a market in the United States. And if you haven’t watched the game, you may have been convinced in your preview of the Bundesliga. The fact is that Dortmund appeared out of the gates with Erling Haaland, giving them a 2-0 lead after scoring in the 2nd and 9th minutes.

With the excitement with which the Black and Yellows have looked over the past few decades, the club ‘s ability to throw away a good position is unparalleled in world football. In the 25th minute, Thomas Meunier was through into the Bayern box, but instead of hitting the ball past Neuer and making it 3-0, the Frenchman opted to pass. Bayern won the ball quickly, and Leroy Sané would eventually replace Robert Lewandowski for his 29th Bundesliga goal of the season.

Then just before halftime, it was 2-2. Mahmoud Dahoud had beaten Kingsley Coman inside the box. Referee Marco Fritz missed the deception in real time but marked the spot after watching the scene once more in the review area. Lewandowski stepped up and scored his 30th Bundesliga goal.

Looking back, Fritz’s decision may provoke some debate. Because in the 48th minute, Marco Reus was brought down in what appeared to be a fumble inside the box. Neither Fritz, nor the VAR referee, chose the second sight. The out-of-the-box deception appears to have been more closely examined, but in the absence of another review there is likely to be at least some eye-popping sightings inside the Dortmund camp.

Things then quickly went from bad to worse for BVB. In the 60th minute, Haaland had to be taken off with what looked like an Achilles injury. Without their main striker in front, Dortmund looked toothless, allowing Bayern to take control of the game swiftly.

“We needed a lot of energy to come back,” Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka said after the game to the media. “Dortmund were more defensive after their goals, but in the end, they couldn’t cope with our ongoing pressure.”

With the pressure mounting, it was Goretzka, who found a way through in the last 88th minute. “I had to deal very quickly, it was not planned at all,” Goretzka said after game. “It was intuitive. It would be better to score the definite goal at the closing stages if the stadium was full. “

BVB fans may see it a little differently. Dortmund defender Emre Can, in particular, complained after the goal suggested there was a lump in the buildup. Bayern were not bothered and just two minutes later, Lewandowski completed his hattrick. Pole now has 31 goals and only needs nine more to beat Gerd Müller 40 goals 1971/72 Bundesliga season.

Overall, it was a well – deserved result by Bayern, which showed why they are without a doubt the best team in the world. But in Leipzig, the Rekordmeister is likely to be challenged all the way this season as the two clubs are still just two points apart. Dortmund, meanwhile, feel lucky that their top four rivals Wolfsburg (1-2 against Hoffenheim) and Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1 against Stuttgart), have also dropped points on Saturday.
