Basconia ran over Milan, Zenit did not give up

Beginning of an article

In contrast to Maccabi Tel Aviv, whose chances of qualifying for the Euroleague playoffs are almost non-existent, there are quite a few teams battling for a ticket to the top eight. Tonight (Friday), some went on the floor to complete the 31st round: Himki and Basconia ran over Milan and left themselves a chance to slip into the top eight.

Moscow Khimki – Zenit St. Petersburg 91:70
The locals have already come to terms with the fact that they will finish the season in last place, but the guest does not give up so easily on the ticket to the advanced stages of the season. Zenit broke a streak of three losses and created an intriguing triangle: Valencia, Zenit and Basconia share eighth place with 17 wins each. This fight, it seems, will continue until the end of the regular season – but it has another meaning: a victory of one of the teams or a loss of Maccabi in the next round – and the chances of the Yellows are finally over.

On the floor, after a considered and attack-free first quarter – Zenit opened burners and recently escaped the table. Austin Hollins led the scoring with 17 points, 19 from Alexei Sheved and 17 from Eric McCollum were not enough on the other side.

Basconia – Milan 69:86
The Italians are already a foot and a half into the playoffs, but they managed to stress themselves out with a second straight loss. The Spaniards, on the other hand, are strong in the immigration picture. The opening belonged to Milan specifically, but Basconia stopped the team of Ettore Messina on 29 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and cruised all the way to the prestigious victory. Pierre Henry led the Basques with 19 points, and Kevin Panther contributed 13 on the Italian side.
