Real Madrid are in favor of signing Bayern Munich defender David Alaba on a free transfer as Barcelona have withdrawn from the transfer race due to financial instability.
The Catalans have pulled out of the race by not being able to meet the player’s salary demands amid the financial ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, Real Madrid are maintaining their position as the forwards to land the Austrian signature – after offering the four-year deal worth nearly £ 9m a quarter to defender.

As of right now, Alaba is expected to be a free agent when his contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of June.
Alaba have been given permission by Bayern Champions League keepers to discuss moves with other clubs after rejecting their £ 200,000-a-week contract extension.
LaLiga’s rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona, went head-to-head to sign the 28-year-old, before the Catalans withdrew from the race.

According to Marca, Alaba substitute Pini Zhavi was in talks with Barca about a possible deal, but once the club learned of the defender’s financial demands they chose to -out of the transfer race.
After seeing their revenues fall by £ 231million, it is believed that Barcelona will focus their attention on signing Eric Garcia at Manchester City instead.
As a result, Real Madrid are said to be closing in when they signed the much-needed Bayern Munich defender.
Alaba emerged from Munich’s under-17 squad, playing a key role in the side since 2011 – bagging nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League titles.
There has been a huge demand in Alaba across Europe because of how flexible it was between defense and midfield.
