The King’s Cup quarter-final draw was held today (Friday) and the Spanish champions Barcelona won a relatively comfortable draw, avoiding encounters against Villarreal and Sevilla and being drawn for an away game against Granada, which experienced a relatively good season and is in seventh place in La Liga.
Sevilla, the strongest rival Barcelona could have had, at least on paper, were also drawn for an away game, but in their case it is the easiest draw against the only team from the second division that has reached this stage – Almeria.
In two more intriguing games, both on the purity of La Liga, Athletic Bilban, who are yet to play in the 2019/20 Cup final this coming April, will be hosted by Betis, while Villarreal will be hosted by Levante. The games will take place next week, between Tuesday and Thursday.
