Bank of Israel: “The cost of closure – 3.5 billion a week”

How much does it cost us: The cost of tightening the restrictions on Friday, as part of the third closure, will be NIS 3 to 3.5 billion a week – the Bank of Israel estimates that following the government’s decision last night to move to a full closure starting at midnight on Thursday. For now, the closure will last at least two weeks.

It should be noted that the Bank’s previous estimates for a third closure, in a looser format as it was known about two weeks ago, amounted to about NIS 2.5 billion a week.

As part of the updated closure approved last night, attendance at workplaces will be reduced, jobs that receive an audience will be closed, especially commerce, close personal services and hotels in the Green Islands. In addition, now, frontal activity in the entire education system, with the exception of special education, will be closed (beyond distance learning). Leaving the house for non-essential needs will be limited to one kilometer and the threshold allowed for a gathering to be reduced to 5 people in a closed space and 10 people in an open space.
